I was rather excited when I was given the job of being the Portrait Photography Editor here at Picture My Camera. Why you ask? Well, because my background is in portrait photography and it's something that I've recently jumped back into, with both feet. I've always had a passion for it, and now I get to share that with you!
My first --and only-- job was working for a mainstream portrait studio. I learned a lot about various subjects during this time. I learned how to get fussy babies to calm down. I learned how to get a shy teen to flash a bracey grin. I learned how to snap at just the right time. And sometimes that right time didn't even require the subject to be awake or looking at the camera. In this studio setting I was able to hone in on my creative portrait photography, but that creativity didn't get a chance to really flourish until early last year.
Being a mother of four with a passion for photography can only mean one thing: Buy digital camera for me and I'm putting it in my kids' faces. I'm trying all kinds of new and fun ideas to capture memories, daily. And that daily practice is only doing one thing...it's making me better at it! This year brings more excitement as my husband and I embark on launching a portrait photography business. Sure the field is saturated, but my hope is that by word-of-mouth my style and creativity will be sought after by families seeking affordable, qualitative, and artistic portraits. So far I've had the pleasure of doing three portrait sessions and I can't wait to do more.

I look forward to exploring the world of Portrait Photography here at Picture My Camera. My goal is to put forth informative articles on the internet that will help you take better portraits of your family and loved ones, all in an easy and carefree manner. Please join me on this new endeavor; it's bound to be an exciting time! Get in touch on your computer, laptop or iphone and we can play some games with the digital camera.
