ACDSee Pro 2 Review
Written by Mike Carr
If you have several photos in your digital collection, a photo management software is crucial to organize it all. The ACDSee Pro 2 photo management software features a wide range of capabilities, from viewing and categorizing photos to printing and archiving. Photo collections, especially with digital cameras, have a way of getting unruly. If you've been shooting digital for a while, you probably have spent plenty of instances looking and looking for a particular picture. You click in and out of My Pictures folders, and it eludes you.

While Pro is in the name and there are some pro features, such as tagging photos with ISO and photographer, there are a great many features that would prove useful to any photo enthusiast.

Organizing Photos with ACDSee Pro 2

Easily the best reason for most people to get ACDSee Pro 2 is the slick and easy-to-use organization system. You can categorize pictures in a variety of ways (including categories you create).

It comes with some built-in categories like people and places. An easy quick-start setup is to create subcategories of those to list the people and places in the pictures. You could also add a date category to organize pictures depending on which month or year taken.

You can also rate pictures so that you can easily find your favorite pictures with a single click. You can also provide information by the batch. For instance, one folder could have the same basic information such as date and place until you add more details later. Having multiple methods to find a photo means you no longer have to decide whether to organize by date or subject (or single subject) alone.

Other ACDSee Pro 2 Key Features

Fortunately, this software is much more than simply a photo organization program. You can do a wide variety of other picture functions, including:
  • Editing photos
  • Cataloging of all files on your computer (but expect the process to be slow for large collections)
  • Batch resizing images
  • Burning CDs and DVDs of pictures
  • Printing single images or contact sheets
  • Creating videos or slide shows
  • Attaching audio clips to image files
